Previous ID card PIN entered wrong twice

If you have entered your previous ID card PIN wrong twice, you will be prompted to enter your Card Access Number (CAN).

CAN is a six-digit number at the front of your ID card.

Why do I have to enter my Card Access Number (CAN)?

The request for your Card Access Number (CAN) is for your security, to make sure that no-one can change your PIN without your knowledge.

Note

The CAN may not be visible when the ID card is inserted into the card reader.

The Card Access Number (CAN) may not be visible when using card readers which require you to insert the card into the device. Please note the Card Access Number (CAN) before you insert the identity card.

Attention

Three false attempts to enter PIN

Should you enter the wrong PIN for a third time, the online identification function of your ID card will be blocked. If this is the case, you have to enter the Unblock ID card PIN using the PUK in order to identify yourself or change the PIN Change PIN.

The following figure shows the PIN management with the prompt to enter the Card Access Number (CAN).
