PIN letter of Bundesdruckerei

Once you have applied for the new national ID card, the Bundesdruckerei will send you a PIN letter, containing the following:

• 5-digit transportation PIN
• Personal Unblocking Key (PUK)
• Password to block the online identification function.

Hint

Prior to using your ID card for the online identification, you have to rplace the 5-digit transport PIN with a personalized 6-digit PIN.

Attention

Transport PIN and Personal Unblocking Key (PUK) are important data for your ID card. Never share them with anybody, not even personnel from the foreigner’s registration office.
