ID card PIN entered wrong twice¶
If you have entered your ID card PIN wrong twice, you will be prompted to enter your Card Access Number (CAN).
The CAN is a six-digit number on the front of your ID card.

Why do I have to enter my Card Access Number (CAN)?
The request for your Card Access Number (CAN) is for your security, to make sure that no one can change your PIN without your knowledge.
Note
The CAN may not be visible when the ID card is inserted into the card reader.
The Card Access Number (CAN) may not be visible when using card readers which require you to insert the card into the device. Please note the Card Access Number (CAN) before you insert the identity card.
Attention
Three false attempts to enter PIN
If the wrong PIN is entered again on this third attempt, the ID card will be blocked. In this case you have to use the Unblock ID card PIN using the PUK to be able to identify yourself or to change the PIN again.
