What do I need to do if I want to offer identification via the AusweisApp?

Three steps are required to use the AusweisApp in your service:

  • Connection to an eID server – via an identification service, eID service or your own server.
  • Apply for an authorisation certificate – only necessary if no identification service is used.
  • Integrate the AusweisApp – via a web link or directly into your app using SDK.

Where can my users receive support if they encounter issues with the AusweisApp?

If you encounter technical problems with the AusweisApp (e.g. installation, use, connection), your users can contact our AusweisApp-support directly:

Can I pass on user enquiries about the AusweisApp from my support team directly to AusweisApp support?

Yes, enquiries that clearly and exclusively relate to questions or problems with the AusweisApp can, in principle, be forwarded directly to AusweisApp Support.

What is an authorisation certificate and when is it required?

The authorisation certificate allows the ID data to be read and is applied for at the Federal Administrative Office. It is required if you wish to obtain the ID data via an eID service or your own server rather than via an identification service.

How does one get listed in the AusweisApp provider list?

Once integration has been successfully completed you can have your service added to the AusweisApp provider list. You can submit or update information about your service using a form or by emailing support@ausweisapp.de.
